Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
 

The Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine at Belmont University is seeking clinical affiliate physicians who are passionate about medical student teaching, role-modeling, and whole-person care.  Excellent candidates are those who will strive to cultivate students’ character, compassion, and competence through innovative medical education.  Clinical affiliates should be dependable, motivated, supportive, creative, professional with communication and team-based interactions, and willing to learn and employ newer teaching modalities, as indicated.  Candidates from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in medicine are highly encouraged to apply.

In addition to basic science foundation and clinical experiences, the curriculum will feature innovation, collaboration with other health professionals, engagement with community, consideration of faith and ethics in medicine, and examination of societal determinants of health.  Candidates who have experience and expertise in these co-curricular elements will be viewed favorably.


Requirements:

  • MD/DO/MBBS
  • Physicians with clinical responsibilities must hold current board certification or be within seven years of completion of accredited training.
  • All necessary education and training for the career choice including, but not limited to, completion of residency, subspecialty fellowship, or postdoctoral experience.
  • Appropriate licenses to practice, credentials, and maintenance of certification.

 Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching activities (lecture, group discussions, experiential learning activities in simulation center, clinical preceptor)
  • Research mentorship
  • Community engagement
  • Administrative duties (student assessment, program assessment, specialty advisor, clinical affiliate site director, 3rd year clerkship director, 4th year course director)

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the
    field of study.

  • Demonstrated ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
  • Skilled in the use of computers, Internet resources, and MS Office software.
  • Ability to learn relevant sections of BannerWeb, Belmont University’s online integrated database system for student grading.
  • Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the programs and services offered by Belmont University. Interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
